She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Whitener and Phoebe Dills Whitener; her husband Roscoe Laughter; and her children, Eugene Whitener, Ronnie Suttles, Jerry Suttles, Jeffery Suttles and Susan Lynch.
She is survived by: her daughters, Dian Conner of Rutherfordton, Brenda Toney of Rutherfordton, Helen Champion of Forest City and Terrica Gibbs (Ronnie) of Union Mills. She is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
