It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bessie Mae Carter of Saint Pauls, North Carolina, who passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Lowery and Annie Lowery; her husband Jeff Carter; her sons, Ricky Carter, Kenneth Carter and Micheal Carter; her siblings, Frances Revels, Louise Young, Pearl Bell, Cozy Carter, Irene Locklear, Henry Berry Lowery, Frank Lowery Jr. (Buddy), Martha Lowery and Sam Lowery; and her grandsons, Fred O'renzo Lowery and Chad Everrette Carter.
She is survived by: her children, Jeffery Carter (Maxine) of St. Pauls and Kimberly Kay Burns (James) of Shannon; her grandchild Kris Thompson (Jack) of Lumberton; her daughters-in-law, Millise Carter and Rose-Mary Carter Locklear; her sister Barbara Johnson of Stedman; and her caregivers, Aundrea Wellington (Song-Bird) of Glenflora, Diane Grissett of Glenflora and Tanya Chavis of Gentiva. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, thirty-five great children and two great-great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends.
