He was predeceased by: his parents, David Pinkney Paris and Jesse Hampton Paris; his wife Carolyn Trexler Paris; Cassie and Silky.

He is survived by: his children, Douglas "Todd" Paris (Robyn) of Salisbury, Kim Paris Love (Jeff) of Charlotte, NC and Matthew Paris (Misty) of Gold Hill; his grandson Douglas Todd Paris Jr. of Midland, NC; his stepgrandsons, Jake Douglass of Cary, NC and Jeff Ferron of Gastonia, NC; his great grandchild Jeffrey; and his nieces, April Banks Norris and Chrystal Banks Crowe.

During Covid, he was inducted into the North Carolina Wildlife Hall of Fame for his over 50 years of volunteer service as a hunter/gun safety instructor.
