He was predeceased by: his parents, A. R. "Red" Benfield and Bernice Allman Benfield; his brother Reid Benfield; and his brother-in-law Ricky Abernathy. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Morris Benfield; his children, Mark Shane Benfield (Anna Reichert) and Melissa Benfield (Randy DeBruhl); his grandchildren, Wyatt Benfield, Miley Benfield and Amber Crucian; his great grandchild Lincoln Crucian; his siblings, Mike Benfield (Martha) and Vicky Abernathy; his siblings-in-law, Gary Morris and Mary Benfield; and his pet Harper.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the New Hope Baptist Church (830 Choate Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
