He is survived by: his wife Deborah Wood Mattox; his children, Gary Todd Mattox of Suffolk, VA, Aaron Mattox (Melanie) of Austin, TX, Ryan "Bam Bam" Mattox of Cleveland, Brandon Mattox (Brooke) of Clayton, NC, Ebony Pharr Gomez (Andres) of Suffolk, VA and Jamie Blakeney of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Olivia Mattox (Tucker Parsons), Makayla Mattox, Omar Mattox, Synaee Mattox, Dominick Mattox, Iviano Mattox, Jaeden Mattox, Brielle Mattox and Matted Mattox; his siblings, Ronald "Bo" Mattox of Statesville, Pricilla Mattox Bowman of Statesville and Eric Mattox of Cleveland; his nephews, Bismi Powell of Charlotte and Rasheed Ballard of Charlotte; his niece Melissa Mattox Ikard (Sean) of Statesville; his siblings-in-law, Thomas O. Wood, Jr., James Hall (Jimmy), Paula Waiters, Beverly W. Cuthbertson, Bernadeane Alexander (Willie) and Evelyn Mattox; and his close friends, Rickey Lackey, Raywood White, Stacey Campbell and Julianna Whitley.
