He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Smith; his children, Cheryl Peterson of Salisbury, NC, Greg Smith (Margaret) and Jeff Smith of Salisbury, NC; his grandchildren, Monica Fulghum of Kinston, NC, Johnny Peterson of Rockwell, NC, Brandon Smith of Kinston, NC, Nicole Peterson of Kannapolis, NC, Brian Peterson (Tracie) of Randleman, NC, Ryan Smith (Hannah) of Lexington, NC, Axil Peterson of Rockwell, NC and Matt Peterson of Rockwell, NC.; his great grandchildren, Riley Fulghum, Daisy Casey (Brian), Taylor Smith, Gunnar Fulghum, Abe Peterson, Sofia Fulghum, Braleigh Peterson, Noah Peterson, Daxton Peterson, Willow Lowry, Sammy Lowry, Erryn Smith, Evelyn Smith and Kaiden Swicegood; and his great great grandchildren, Jackson and Jace Casey.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Powles Staton Funeral Home (913 W Main St, Rockwell, NC 28138). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
