He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Beatrice Garwood and Johnie McKenzie Shives; and his brothers, Richard and Barry Shives. He is survived by: his wife Doris Coble Shives; his daughters, Robin Mashburn (Doug) of Salisbury, Stephanie Belk (Todd) of Salisbury and Jessica Livengood (Donald) of Salisbury; and his grandchildren, Brandon Belk, Brittney Goodnight, Joey Hornbeak, Hunter Mashburn, McKenna Cottingham, Cody Livengood and Kayla Livengood. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
