We are sad to announce that on July 30, 2025, Banjo Joe Matthews of Sanford, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the quiet moments of reflection, amidst the gentle rustle of leaves and the whispered song of the stars, we shall carry Banjo's memory with us, a guiding light illuminating the path ahead. May Banjo's journey be filled with peace and serenity, and may he find rest in the embrace of eternity.
He was predeceased by: his father John Ed Matthews; his uncles, Julius Matthews and Ralph Matthews; and his aunt Sarah Margaret Wicker. He is survived by: his mother Mildred Taylor Matthews of Sanford; his wife Zelda; and his brothers, Randy Matthews of Sanford and Dexter Matthews (Charla) of Carthage. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Matthews Family Cemetery.
