He is survived by : his mother Betty Johnson; his wife Sarah Alston McBride; his sons, Bobby Marques McBride (Jessica), James "Jay" Alston (Carla) and Darrick Alston, Sr.; his siblings, Maurice Wilson (Paula) and Helen "Poo" Crawford; his aunts and uncles, Gordon, Johnnie Johnson, Annie Burch and Elder Joyce Jackson; his sisters-in-law, Patricia Alston of Sanford, NC, Delores Summerville (Raymond) of Sanford, NC, Patricia Fallin of Sanford, NC and Marquitta Scott of Dayton, OH; his grandson Jordan Alston; his aunt Debra Faye Paige; his cousins, Mack Jackson, Tara Hooker and Trina Donaldson; and his close friends, Jimmy Cline and David Harrington. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Christian Center (1395 Fire Tower Rd, Sanford, NC 27330).
