It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ernestine Black of Sanford, North Carolina, who passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Allen Mills and Cara Lenora Collins Mills; her stepfather Conley Johnson; her husband Rev. Lloyd Carlton Black; her sisters, Lannie Lambert and Betty Forbes; her grandson Brandon Jewell; and her son-in-law Jeffrey Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Lloyd Carlton Black, Jr., Jan Black Smith (Leo), Louise Black Thomas (Steve) and Melanie Black Ellis (Ken); and her sister Ruth Mills Buffkin. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Lemon Springs Baptist Church (576 Sanders Rd, Sanford, NC 27332). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
