He was predeceased by : his parents, Charlie Elbert and Fay Matthews Badgett; his wife Ethel Yow Badgett; and his brother James Ralph Badgett. He is survived by : his daughters, Karen Bowman (Terry) and Joan Robbins (John); his grandchildren, Neal Bowman (Laura), Mark Bowman (Brittany), Lori Wheeler (Brian), Peter Robbins, David Robbins and Patrick Robbins; and his sisters, Dot Boaz and Rachel Lawrence. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse, 7691 Valley Boulevard Blowing Rock, NC 28605.
