We announce the death of John Timothy Shaw of Sanford, North Carolina, who passed away on October 12, 2026, at the age of 79. John Timothy will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. John Timothy will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew John Timothy will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. John Timothy’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Daniel Shaw and Mildred Mae Baker Shaw; and his sister Dorothy Phillippi. He is survived by: his wife Betty Howard Shaw; his children, Vanessa Rea (Gus), Spencer Smith and Michael John Nelson; and his sister Lynda Langslow. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home (600 W Main St, Sanford, NC 27332). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
