With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Rita Smith of Sanford, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 4, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Rank and Bertha Laubscher Rank; and her husband Fletcher Smith. She is survived by: her children, Tracy Harter Lett (Terry) of Sanford, NC, Todd Harter (Tammy) and Trent Harter of Omaha, Nebraska; her stepdaughter Tammy Wetherington (Robby) of Virginia; her siblings, Jeanette McCullough of Iowa and Bob Rank (Evelyn) of Iowa; her grandchildren, Jake Harter, Andrea Harter, Tobias Harter (Samantha), Tia Harter (Seth), TJ Lett (Madison), Tessa Lett Tim Lett (Anthony) and Tinsley Lett; her stepgrandchildren, Lauren Brunais, Saran Wetherington and Brynn Creech; and her close friends, Audrey Hulsey of Omaha, NE, Jodi Truman and Pam Ardell of Wilmington, NC.. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
