He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha A. Petty, and Grady Petty, Sr.; and his siblings, George E. Locklear, James M. Petty, Mary E. Redwine and Margaret A. Petty.
He is survived by: his wife Hattie A. Petty; his siblings, Lucille Trusell and Grady Petty, Jr.; his siblings-in-law, Robert E. Allen, Paul G. Allen (Venus) and Juanita Allen; and his siblings' children, Cynthia Williams, Cheryl Trusell, Cecilia McNeill, Issac and Kobe Allen-Hunt. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Viewing was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Knotts Funeral Home (719 Wall St, Sanford, NC 27330). A funeral service was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
