She was predeceased by: her parents, George Anderson Blackburn and Elsie Belle Venable; her husband John Michael Varner; her son Richard Lynn Kelly; and her siblings, William Blackburn, Irene Salmon, James Blackburn, Betty Ann Bennett, Mary Lee Elliott and David Blackburn.
She is survived by: her children, Garland Eugene Kelly (Annette) and Dean Varner (Tonya); her stepchildren, Jodi Vila (Joe) and Brian Varner; her grandchildren, Gabrielle Moore (Sam), Brandon Kelly (Katie), Nathaniel Kelly (Lauren), Allira Dozark (Rex), Whitney Varner Meghan Varner (Tessa), Austin Rhodes (Brannon), Cameron Varner, Braxton Varner and Peyton Varner; and her siblings, Wilma Bunnell and Charles Blackburn (Linda). She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Red Branch Baptist Church (1748 Old River Rd, Carthage, NC 28327). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
