With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Walter Fuller Hughes (Sanford, North Carolina), who passed away on June 8, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Walter may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Walter touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeff Hobson Hughes and Mary Gladys Seawell Hughes; his wife Goldree O. Hughes; and his siblings, Maxine Smallwood, Rosie Hughes, Myrdie Eva Hogan, Bishop Hughes, Claude Hughes and Dock Hughes.
He is survived by: his sister Louise Owens of Lee County; his nephew Robert; and his niece Carolyn Harper of Sanford.
A funeral service was held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Euphronia Presbyterian Church (169 Euphronia Church Rd, Sanford, NC 27330).
