She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Dudley and Muriel Wahab Newman; her former husband Rev. George Abele; her siblings, Richard Dudley Newman, II, Muriel Louise Newman, Gilbert Howard Newman, Nell Sears, Harvey Wahab Newman, Thomas Edward Newman I and Mitchell Paul Newman; her granddaughter Lynn L. Williams; her great grandchild Isaac Lee Carawan; and her great great grandchild Kamiryn Eve Boyles.
She is survived by: her husband E. Scott Williams; her children, Lena Williams Carawan (Roy), Dudley Scott, Joseph Howard (Belinda) and Lee Bland (Madge); and her grandchildren, Neda Florence Spenellie (Jim), R. Scott Carawan (Leigh Ann), William Kirklin Carawan, Tina Williams Rich (Ryan), Crissy Williams Boyles (Kevin), Kandi Williams Gibbs, Diana Williams Belmarez, Nathanael Williams and Caroline Williams.
A funeral service was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the St. John's Episcopal Church (5488 Sladesville-Credle Rd, Scranton, NC 27875). A reception was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
