He was predeceased by: his parent Louise Epps; his brothers, Tommy Epps, Sr. and Jimmy Epps; and his grandson Oscar Ray Epps, Jr. (Hercules). He is survived by: his wife Annie Lee Burgwyn; his children, Linda E. Hinds of Clinton, Maryland, Oscar Epps, Sr. (LaKeisha) of Jackson and Joel Motley of Roanoke Rapids; his siblings, Charlotte Epps of College Park, Maryland and Earl Epps of Lorton, Virginia; his grandchildren, Shakara Hinds, Octavia Epps, Justin Davis, Jordan Davis and Travon Watson; and his nieces and nephews, Kimberly Epps-Louers, Annie Marie Portillo, Adrian, Michael, Tommy Jr., Earl, Antione and Jalen Epps. He is also survived by great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
