He was predeceased by: his parents, C. H. Higgins and Dorothy Watson Higgins; his daughter Crystal Higgins Brady; his grandson Skylar Brady; his son-in-law Brannon Brady; and his siblings, Jerry Higgins, Mable H. Johnson and Deborah Sessoms.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Boykin Higgins; his son Tony Mark Higgins (Daphne Higgins) of Clarkton; his siblings, J. L. Higgins, Bobby Higgins, Danny Higgins, Billy Higgins, Clara Powell of Smithfield and Pat H. Jackson of Smithfield; his granddaughter Lauren Bethune (Josh); and his great grandchildren, Bryce Bethune and Harper Bethune.
