He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ashley "Jack" and Alice Clyde Parrish Willoughby; and his sisters, Adele Snead of Ft Meade, FL, Faye Strickland, Brenda Holland and Linda Bailey of Princeton.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Edwards Willoughby; his children, Melvin Willoughby, Jr. of Dulles, VA, Todd Willoughby (Meghan Wallace) of Princeton and Amy Willoughby of Pikeville; his siblings-in-law, Leo Edwards, Jr. (Pam) and Judy Dorsey; and his pets, Winston and Charlotte.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Parrish Funeral Home, Inc. (1351 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM.
