He is survived by: his children, Rosalyn Russell, Anthony Melton (Dena) of Newton Grove, NC, LaCarl Russell (Timmi) of Boston, MA, Antony Russell (Norva) of Boston, MA and Derrick Russell of Boston, MA; and his sisters, Evangelist Mary Bell (Lonnie) of Smithfield, NC and Beatrice Watson of Smithfield, NC. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19, the Governor of North Carolina has asked that all gatherings be limited.
