He was predeceased by: his parents, James Brown Minnis Sr. and Frances "Wicker" Minnis Moore; and his siblings, James Brown Minnis and Frankie Broadhead. He is survived by: his children, Alecia Neville (Tim) of Burlington, Gene Wolfe (Jane) of Roxboro and Robert O'Dell "Robby" Minnis Jr. of Chapel Hill; his sisters, Marie Sturdivant (Larry) of Chapel Hill and Faye Stephens; and his stepsiblings, John Moore, Janise Moore, Joan Haynes (Ernie) and Billie Delaney (Mike). He is also survived by four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Brooks and White Funeral Home (907 Durham Rd, Roxboro, NC 27573).
