With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elmer Franklin Smith Jr. of Shallotte, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 29, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Franklin Smith, Sr. and Nannie Bell Briggs Smith; his wife Jackie Oakes Smith; and his brother Jimmy David Smith. He is survived by: his daughters, Lynn Smith Edmonds (Wayne) of Raleigh and Kara Smith Wyckoff (John) of Rougemont; his siblings, Norman Smith and Martha Smith Davis; and his grandchildren, Josef Edmonds, Lydia Edmonds, Amanda Wyckoff McCullen (Zack) and Parker Wyckoff.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Hudson Funeral Home (211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Hudson Funeral Home Chapel (211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703).
