He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Ratcliff and Nettie Ratcliff; and his wife Dolores Ratcliff. He is survived by: his children, Dena Ratcliff Beard of Wilmington, NC, David J. Ratcliff (Sandra) of Wilmington, NC and Richard D. Ratcliff Jr. (Deborah) of Riegelwood, NC; his siblings, Frank Ratcliff (Nancy) of Colombus, Ohio, Anna Faye Atkins of Colombus, Ohio and Ken; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Larson of Calabash, NC, Peggy Lewis of Wilmington, NC and Brenda White of Loris, SC; and his grandsons, David Beard, Trey Ratcliff, Wesely Ratcliff, Taylor Ratcliff, Carson Ratcliff and Casey Ratcliff. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to Sharon Methodist Church or Lower Cape Fear Life Center.
