He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter David McCombs, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Gill Williams; his son Scott McCombs; and his sister Glenda Gingras. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Davis McCombs; his children, Walter David McCombs III of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Billy Lee McCombs of Cocoa Beach, Florida and Jennifer Lynn Moss of Shelby; his stepdaughter Selena Rose of Dallas, Texas; his sister Tammy Stephens of Ringgold, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Taz McCombs, Scotty Moss, Rebekah Moss, Thadeus Mendez, Tabetha Jenkins, Matthew McCombs, Mary McCombs and Thomas Farlow. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Zion Baptist Church (525 W Zion Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28150). A burial will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Sailsbury National Cemetery.
