Carl Lee Frazee Obituary

Carl Lee Frazee, 89, entered his eternal home on Friday January 19, 2024. He was born to Deva and Samuel Frazee in Elwood, IN. Following graduation from Bippus High School, he attended Emmaus Bible College in Oak Park, IL. It was there met his red-headed, ping-pong challenger Marjorie Joy Campbell. They married and he began his service in the Army, stationed in Germany, California and Fayetteville. He began his 30-year career with the IRS in Asheville, NC and eventually settled in Shelby, NC. He served as the president of the National Treasury Employees Union, and served in the Army Reserves and received honors and special service recognition along the way.
A dedicated member of Pleasant City Church, he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School, and valued independent study of the scripture. He loved computers, power tools, puzzles, popcorn, puns and Joy’s pies.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Joy; his twin sister Carolyn Vranich; and his son Darrel Todd Frazee. Surviving are his son, David Frazee (Ellen) of Acton, MA; daughters, Karen Horne (Kevin) of Macon, NC, Carol Ward (Dianna) of Charlotte, Robin Leigh (Fred) of High Point, Romelle Blanton (Richard) of Shelby, Colette Duncan of Inman, SC; and daughter-in-law, Donna Frazee of Waynesville; brother, Maurice Frazee and wife Catherine of Wabash, IN; brother-in-law Robert Campbell of Groton, CT; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Glisson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant City Church, Shelby, NC.
