He is survived by: his wife Gail Brooks Canipe; his children, Timothy Charles Canipe (Glenda) and Nina Topper (Brian); his grandchildren, Leslie Lynch (Todd), Charlie, Jacob, Kayley, Brittany, Austin, Abby, Landon, Autumn (Eli), Christopher (Pam), Jeremiah Appleman and Allen Appleman (Holly); and his siblings, Mitchell Canipe (Gail) and Helen Mauney. He is also survived by his 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory (106 Cherryville Rd, Shelby, NC 28150). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Burns High Booster Club, TerraBella of Shelby, or VIA Health Partners.
