He was predeceased by: his parents, Edison Ford Byrd and Obelia Bridges Byrd; his former wife Judy Cook Byrd; his nephew Mark Blanton; and also, Edison Ford Byrd Jr. and Joe William Byrd.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy White; his stepdaughters, Sophia Zon Stewart (David) and Angelina Zon Smith; his grandchildren, Abrey Smith and Ayden Smith; his siblings, Martha Byrd Blanton of Adelaide, Australia and Donald Byrd (Kathryn) of Myrtle Beach, SC; his sister-in-law Betty Greene Byrd of Shelby, NC; and his siblings' children, Derrick Blanton, Chris Blanton, Mark Byrd and Terena Blanton Downs.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Flint Hill Baptist Church (2207 Flint Hill Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28152).
