He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Hartz and Grace Borchert Hartz. He is survived by: his wife Denise Faye Hartz; his sons, Eric Hartz (April) of Iowa and Justin Hartz of Iowa; his stepdaughters, Melissa Martin (Chris) of Shelby and Rhonda Marx (Jim) of Wisconsin; and his siblings, Cathy VanGundy of Iowa and Rick Hartz (Gail) of Iowa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory (106 Cherryville Rd, Shelby, NC 28150). A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
