He was predeceased by: his parents, George Newton Bowen and Lucy Greene Bowen. He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Pat" Smart Bowen; his children, David Bowen (Kathy) of Lattimore and Tracie Wray (Jeffrey) of Boiling Springs; his sisters, Judy McElrath (Dean) of Black Mountain and Sherry Justice (Ricky) of Shelby; his granddaughters, Megan Wray Self (Alex), Amber Wray and Sarah Bowen; and his great grandchild Blaire Self. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Bethel Baptist Church (606 S Dekalb St, Shelby, NC 28150). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 at 5:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Church Cemetery (418 Oak Grove Clover Hill Church Rd, Lawndale, NC 28090).
