She was predeceased by: her parents, Palmer Paxton and Margaret Bryte Davis Paxton; her husband Buford Wray Beam; and her brothers, Jim, Richard and Wayne Paxton.
She is survived by: her children, Don Beam (Becky), Teresa Warrick (Skip) of Shelby, Alica Wortman (Neal) of Shelby and Myra Ware (Scott) of Shelby; and her sisters, Mary Shaffer, Betty Scoggins and Judy Webb. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Elizabeth Baptist Church (301 N Post Rd, Shelby, NC 28152). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, September 8th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in Doris's memory to Elizabeth Baptist Church or to Hospice Cleveland County/Wendover Hospice, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
