He was predeceased by: his parents, Loren Robert Shuford and Pauline Floyd Shuford; his wife Barbara Hammett Shuford; his brother Warren Shuford; and his son-in-law Doug Satterfield.
He is survived by: his children, Richard Dwight Shuford (Paula) of Marietta, Georgia, Sandra Shuford Satterfield of Shelby and Lisa Shuford Batca (Ron) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Adam Satterfield (Melissa), Luke Satterfield, Lara Batca and Alec Batca; his sister Joan Dedmon of Shelby; and his sister-in-law Joyce Shuford of Lawndale.
