It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Edgar Lutz Jr. of Shelby, North Carolina, who passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edgar and Grace Rawlings Lutz. He is survived by: his wife Claudia Abernethy Lutz; his children, Elizabeth Lutz Bridges (Reid) and James William Lutz (Julie); his grandchildren, Emily Bridges Johnson (Adam), Nancy Bridges (Michael Wicker), Katie Bridges, Grayson Lutz and Logan Lutz; his sister Linda Lutz Ware; and his siblings-in-law, Don and Shirley Abernethy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; along with many loving friends and neighbors.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Central United Methodist Church (200 E Marion St, Shelby, NC 28150).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, located at 200 E. Marion Street, Shelby, North Carolina.
