He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Calvin Hartsell and Odessa Barbee Hartsell; his wife Mary Crawley Hartsell; his son Eric Carl Hartsell; his former wife Beth Zimmerman Hartsell; his sister Helen Hartsell Gray; and his children, Fred and Mary.
He is survived by: his children, Joyce Hartsell Hensley (Billy), Jackie Crawley, Steve Crawley and David Crawley (Carolyn). He is also survived by six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory (106 Cherryville Rd, Shelby, NC 28150). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
