He was predeceased by: his parents, Erastus Johnson and Irene Canipe Johnson; and his siblings, Ernest Johnson, Quinton Johnson, Jerry Johnson and Clara Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia W. Johnson; his daughters, Lisa R. Johnson of Shelby, LeAnn Johnson of Shelby and Phyllis Johnson Clay (Jerry) of Raleigh; his grandson Brandon Clay of Raleigh; his sister Marie Odom of Shelby; and his caregivers, Dorothy Whisnant, Betty Jones, Leisa Jones, Dianne Bratton, Erica Whisnant, Santana Whisnant and Keisha Ross.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, December 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Cleveland Memorial Park (1225 College Ave, Shelby, NC 28152).
