He was predeceased by: his mother Lizzie Gilliard; and his sisters, Charlene Turner, Phyllis Gilliard and Diana Green. He is survived by: his daughters, Niki Moore Sanders (Dennis) of Gastonia, NC and Quintina Gilliard of Waco, NC; and his siblings, David Gilliard of Waco, NC, Rayford Gilliard of California, Becky White (James) of Gastonia, NC, Constance Whitworth (Tony) of Cherryville, NC, Mary Allen of Cherryville, NC and Joann Lowe of Shelby, NC.. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Hill Baptist Church (3460 Zion Hill Rd, Cherryville, NC 28021).
