He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joe "JB" Benson Porter and Annis Isler Porter; his brother Keith Porter; his granddaughter Melinda Mathes; his wife Brenda Porter; his daughter Cindy Mathes (Eddie) of Monroe; his brother Roger Porter (Jackie) of Shelby; his grandchildren, Zell, Kelly and Mikel Mathes; his great grandchildren, Madilyn, Mackenna, Melah and Ezra; his siblings' children, Halie Ruppe, Sarah Way and John Porter; and his sister-in-law Betty Porter.
