He was predeceased by: his parents, John George Smith and Lucy York Smith; his wives, Geneva Lineberry Smith and Doris Overman Johnson Smith; his stepdaughter Marilyn McQueary; and his siblings, Lucille Loflin, Dale Lineberry, Guy Smith, John Robert Smith and Cecil Smith.
He is survived by: his sister Rosa Smith Clark Sharpe; his children, Lisa Smith and Tim Smith (Sherry); his stepson Barry Johnson (Connie); his grandchildren, Christina Garner (Justin), John McQueary (Katherine), Madison Smith and Miles Smith; and his great grandchildren, Michael, Lydia, Ephraim, Maddox, Foster, Stella, Posie and Henry.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Loflin Funeral Home (212 W Swannanoa Ave, Liberty, NC 27298). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Rehobeth United Methodist Church (850 Kildee Church Rd, Ramseur, NC 27316).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rehobeth United Methodist Church or Liberty Home Care Hospice.
