Rex Byrd Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rex Byrd of Sims, North Carolina, who passed away on October 10, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Randolph Byrd and Mabel Deans Byrd; his siblings, Brenda Byrd Coleman and Larry Randolph Byrd; and his son-in-law Mike Strickland.
He is survived by: his wife Nellie Privette Byrd; his children, Rhonda B. Strickland, Kimberly B. Sile (Jack) and Ryan Byrd; his grandchildren, Maci Strickland Skinner (Tyler) and Austin Sile; his great grandchild Brady Skinner; his brother Erick Byrd (Becky) of Sims; and his stepchildren, Judy Kilpatrick, Patsy Howard (Billy), Gail Garrett (Ronald), Linda Hopkins, Fran McKinney (Wayne) and Herbert Blaylock, Jr. (Kim). He is also survived by Grandpa Rex were 21 step-grandchildren, 49 step-great-grandchildren.
