It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Jean King of Smithfield, North Carolina, who passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Hubert McNeill Poteat, Jr. and Jeanne Louise Leege Poteat; her brother Dr. William L. Poteat (Cheryl) of Columbia, SC; and her nephew Hubert McNeill Poteat, III of Raleigh. She is survived by: her significant other Mike Davidian (Mehran); her brother Dr. Robert M. Poteat (Hannah) of Littleton, NC; her nieces and nephews, Hannah Poteat (Mike Johnson) of Oakland and Morgan Corbett (Brian) of Raleigh; her great-nephew Charles Corbett of Charleston, SC; her great-nieces, Essie and Louise Corbett of Raleigh; her stepchildren, Josh Davidian of Wilmington, Kathryn Davidian of Nashville and Adrian Allison (Beau) of Chattanooga; and her close friends, Barbara, Eric Janis, Dr. Russell Anderson and Dr. Dennis Koffer. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
