He was predeceased by: his father David Benjamin Ennis (Vera Lee); and his stepfather Golden Virgil Strickland. He is survived by: his wife Ann Proctor Ennis; his son David Wayne Ennis II; his close friend Patricia Tesla; his daughter Kristen Paige Hopkins; his grandchildren, Harli Paige Lee and Tyson Wayne Noel Hopkins; his mother Helen Lawhorn Strickland; his siblings, Trevis Maleski (Mike) and Frank Ennis (Claire); Colin Tesla. He is also survived by many extended family members including sisters, Brothers, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Wilson's Mills Baptist Church (652 Swift Creek Rd, Smithfield, NC 27577).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Wilson's Mills Baptist Church Youth, 652 Swift Creek Rd., Smithfield, NC 27577.
