He was predeceased by: his parents, Malcolm Stearns and Nora Stearns; his wife Carolyn Abbott Stearns; and his siblings, Malcolm Stearns Jr. and Nancy Joyce.
He is survived by: his children, Daniel Stearns (Valerie) of Kenly and Laura Dale (Colin) of Smithfield; his siblings, David Stearns (Janet) and Melissa Rice (George); and his grandchildren, Caleb, Summer, Seth, Dexter, Sarah, Ryleigh and Chance.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Parrish Funeral Home (1351 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576). A burial will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (164 Longs Plant Farm Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27534).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don's memory to Fellowship Baptist Church, 204 Atkinsons Street, Clayton, NC 27520.
