He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow H. Wood and Irene Gower Wood; his wife Vara Lee Matthews Wood of Smithfield; and his siblings, Kenneth and Nell Jean.
He is survived by: his son Scott (Suzanne); his grandchildren, Emily Wood, Eliza Wood and Alex Wood; his brothers, Dennis (Sue) and Jerry (Mary Lynn); and his sister-in-law Faye Wood. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces and their children.
