She is survived by: her granddaughter Meredith Tyson of Rocky Point, NC; her sisters, Gerry Rabon of Aiken, SC, Sue Smith of Plymouth, NC and Phyllis Parrish of Smithfield, NC; and her siblings-in-law, Evelyn Ellis of Richlands, NC, Linda Ellis of Savannah and John Smith of Plymouth, NC..
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Centenary United Methodist Church (140 E Market St, Smithfield, NC 27577).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ellen Ellis Powell Culinary Arts Fund at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, NC, to support students pursuing careers in the field of culinary arts.
