He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Edgar Mitchell and Eunice Whitley Mitchell; his brother N. E. Mitchell, Jr.; and his brothers-in-law, Tony Woodard, Bobby Davis and Buster Creech.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Mitchell; his son Jamie Mitchell (Angie) of Smithfield; his sisters, Barbara Woodard and Brenda Braswell (Rink); his sisters-in-law, Sandy Mitchell, Fran Davis, Cheryl Mozingo and Debbie Grider (Wesley); his grandchildren, Brittany Thomas (Heath) and Blake Mitchell (Taylor); his great grandchildren, Tucker Thomas and Julia Kate Mitchell; and his pet Chloe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
