It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Edward Thorne (Smithfield, North Carolina), who passed away on January 11, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Thorne and Winnie Thorne; his wife Rosa Taylor Thorne; his daughter Vicky Bagley; and his brothers, J. D. Thorne and Melvin Thorne.

He is survived by: his children, Jimmy Thorne (Dianne) of Smithfield, Michael (Sharon) of Apex and Cathy Lee (Chuck Lee) of Smithfield. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
