Kay Lassiter Joyner Obituary
With sadness, we share the passing of Kay Lassiter Joyner of Smithfield, North Carolina. Kay, born on February 23, 1946, passed away on October 31, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Inez Lassiter and H. D. Lassiter; her sister Linda Babb; and her brother-in-law Jimmy Babb. She is survived by: her pets, Bootsie, Clints, Jude, Dandy and Rut; her husband Clinton Cotton Joyner, Jr.; her brothers-in-law, Danny Joyner (Marsha) of Archer Lodge, NC and Neil Joyner (Melissa) of Fayetteville, NC; and her cousin Wayne Lassiter (Mary Jane) of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by several cousins, as well as friends, who are special extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (202 S 4th St, Smithfield, NC 27577). Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Fellowship Hall (202 S 4th St, Smithfield, NC 27577). A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Beechwood Cemetery (31474 Meherrin Rd, Boykins, VA 23827).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift to the First Baptist Church, Smithfield flower committee, decorating committee, or to this beloved church in her memory.
