William Poindexter Gemmell Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Poindexter Gemmell of Smithfield, North Carolina, who passed away on June 17, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gemmell Sr. and Mildred Poindexter Gemmell; his wife Lydia Taylor Gemmell; his brothers, John Gemmell Jr. and Zachary Lewis Gemmell; and his cousin William Green Poindexter.
He is survived by: his brother Andrew H. Gemmell of Smithfield; his nephew John Tyler Gemmell (Meg); his great-niece Wren Sperry; his great-nephew Van Sperry; and his cousins, Scott Poindexter (Sis), Melinda Poindexter, Robert Poindexter (Allison) and Fred Jones Poindexter (Dotti).
