He was predeceased by: his mother Goldie Edwards; his daughter Rhonda Marie Edwards; and his brother Billy R. Edwards. He is survived by: his father Samuel Edwards; his wife Marie Edwards; his sons, Alan David Edwards of New Bern, NC and Jonathan Edwards (Allison) of Morehead City, NC; his brothers, Don Wayne Edwards (Debbie) of Princeton, NC and Dennis Wilson Edwards of Benson, NC; his grandchildren, Joshua Edwards (Dora), Brittany Edwards and Nikki Goding (Ronnie); and his great grandchildren, Eliot Edwards and Evelyn Edwards.
