It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Helen Raines of Southern Pines, North Carolina, born in Wayne County, North Carolina, who passed away on April 30, 2022, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her father Henry M. Toomer of Goldsboro, NC; her son Calvin Raines; her husband Clarence Raines of Raleigh, NC.; her children, Angela Barkley (Chris) and Rodney Raines; her grandchildren, Fabian Jackson (Kali) of St. Cloud, FL and Lauren Jackson (Bear) of Charlotte, NC.; her mother Sadie H. Covington of Southern Pines, NC.; her brother Lewis Toomer of Southern Pines, NC.; her stepbrother Jessie McIvery (Tina) of Charlotte, NC.; her uncles, Hubert and Herbert Covington of Hartford, CT.; and her godson Sarod Smith. She was also cherished by in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
